Getting started

What is PilotMetrics? ▼
PilotMetrics (sometimes written Pilot Metrics) is a flight training tracker for student pilots. It turns your flight log into clear training metrics: flights per week, gaps between flights, syllabus progress, course and licence minimums and your projected finish date.
Is PilotMetrics free? ▼
Yes. The dashboard, flight log, FlightLogger import, pace and gap statistics, syllabus tracker, Pace Planner, timeline, training groups, Battle Mode and the instructor dashboard are free. PilotMetrics Pro is a one-off £29.99 (our founding student price) for deeper analysis, your logbook checked against your licence minimums, cancellation tracking and the flight map.
Can I import my flights from FlightLogger? ▼
Yes. Export your logbook from FlightLogger as a CSV file and import it on the Flights page. PilotMetrics reads your logbook times (dual, PIC, night, instrument and cross-country) and matches flights to your syllabus lessons, so there's no retyping. How to export and import →
Which licences and courses does PilotMetrics support? ▼
The PPL(A), CPL(A) integrated and modular, MPL(A) and ATPL(A) integrated and modular, with the minimum requirements of the UK CAA and EASA, and the FAA for the PPL. Schools with a built-in syllabus show lesson-by-lesson progress; for any other school you pick your course and see how you compare with other pilots on it.
Is PilotMetrics a replacement for my logbook? ▼
No. PilotMetrics works alongside your official paper or digital logbook to analyse your pace, gaps and progress. It isn't an official record of your flying.
Can I try it without an account? ▼
Yes. The live demo shows a sample student's training with every free and Pro feature switched on.

Privacy

Who can see my training? ▼
Your profile is public by default so you can share a link to it, and you can make it private at any time. Battles, training groups and flight school statistics only ever show totals and averages, never your individual flights. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking.
Can I get a copy of my data? ▼
Yes. Pro members can export their cancellation history as a CSV file and print factual PDF reports. For a full copy of your data, email [email protected].

PilotMetrics Pro

Is Pro a subscription? ▼
No. Pro is a one-off payment of £29.99, our founding student price. It stays on your account for good, including Pro features we add later, even if the price goes up.
What does Pro add? ▼
Your logbook checked against your licence minimums, "Am I on pace?", what changed, consistency and stage bottleneck analysis, ground school exams, cancellation and standby tracking with PDF reports, the Flight Map, your own timeline events and hosting battles. See everything in Pro →
How do I pay? ▼
Through PayPal, with your PayPal account or a card. We never see your card details. Pro unlocks on your account as soon as the payment completes.

Battle Mode & training groups

What is Battle Mode? ▼
A head-to-head comparison with another student pilot over a time period you choose. You compare totals round by round (flights, hours, landings, streaks and more) without either of you seeing the other's flights. Anyone can join a battle free; hosting one is part of Pro. More about Battle Mode →
How does the monthly leaderboard work? ▼
Opt in and you're ranked each month against every other opted-in pilot, with a score out of 100 from your training consistency, flight frequency and flight hours. The top three make the podium, and badges reward things like flying every week. You can opt out at any time.
What do training groups show? ▼
Averages for the group: flights per week, total hours and the gap between flights, plus how many members are at each stage and which aircraft types they fly. Individual flights are never shown, and you choose whether to share your own figures with each group.

Instructors

Can my flight instructor see my progress? ▼
Yes, if you want them to. Add your instructor under Account and, once they accept, they see a read-only overview of your training on their free Instructor Dashboard. You can remove them at any time.
How much does the Instructor Dashboard cost? ▼
Nothing. Instructor Mode and the Instructor Dashboard are free, and your students don't need Pro to add you.
How do my students add me? ▼
Turn on Instructor Mode under Account and you get an instructor code. Students search for you by that code or your account email address, and you accept their request on your dashboard.
What can an instructor see? ▼
A read-only view of the student's training: flights, syllabus progress, gaps, training plan, cancellations, standby shifts and timeline. Instructors never see the student's email address, and exam scores and notes stay private to the student.

Flight schools

Can my flight school use PilotMetrics? ▼
Instructors can already use the free Instructor Dashboard. PilotMetrics for Flight Schools, with your syllabus built in, a school dashboard and Pro included for your students, is coming soon.
How much will it cost a school? ▼
The planned price is £2.50 per active student seat per month, in blocks of 5 with a minimum of 10. Annual billing gets 2 months free, founding schools get 50% off their first year, and instructors and staff are free.
What happens to a student's account when they leave the school? ▼
It stays theirs. Their flights and personal data remain in their own PilotMetrics account; only the school's access and the Pro features included with the school end.
